Pastor of Vision & Strategy

Justin & Caitlyn Chappell with family

I grew up in a small Midwest town where you could see for endless miles on a clear day — and it primed my heart to sing when I first saw the mountains of Colorado. I love calling this place home. I’m one of the pastors at Redeemer Longmont and focus on leading teams, throwing parties, preaching, and helping our community become more beautiful. My passion is for the local church to embody the kindness, courage, and delight of God. I haven’t always experienced those things from Christians — and that grieves me — but it only increases my eagerness to share what I’ve generously been given in Jesus: the hope that I don’t need to hold it all together and the joy of a redeemed story.

Before moving to Longmont in 2017, I spent time in Chicago and then got my undergraduate degree at Southern Illinois University–Edwardsville. After that I moved to St. Louis for my masters degree in theology (MDiv) and stumbled into helping plant a church. I then moved to southwest Florida where I served as an assistant pastor—and also spent a few months making the best batting tees on the planet.

My wife, Caitlyn, and I are college sweethearts, and we are (literally) the proudest parents of our sons, Myles and Griffin.

Interests: Longmont parades, finding new bottles of Armagnac, reading fiction, saying “I’ll start running soon”

Pastor Paul Ranheim, Redeemer Longmont Church

Paul Ranheim

Pastor of formation & Creativity

I grew up in the Seattle area and have always loved living near mountains. Now at home in the Front Range, I’m one of the pastors at Redeemer Longmont and focus on spiritual formation, justice, and creativity. In our increasingly post-Christian culture, I'm fascinated by how Jesus remains the greatest hope and meaning to life the world has ever known. I desire for everyone to come to enjoy God more, and I yearn for the darkest parts of our city to be met with the compassion and resolve of Jesus.

Back in the day, I studied music composition at Whitworth University and then received an MDiv from Covenant Theological Seminary. Prior to Colorado, I served as a pastor and musician at churches in Nashville and Santa Barbara—where I met my beloved wife, Lizzy. My current musical project is The Wood Drake Sessions—a songwriting collaboration bringing songs of hope to the church.

Interests: gardening, telemark skiing, backpacking, kuub, wine, most things Norwegian

Favorite Hobbit: Sam

Favorite Nordic Center: Snow Mountain Ranch

PASTOR OF VOCATION & CURIOSITY

I grew up in Montana—in Yellowstone National Park—which probably explains why I still feel most at home near the Rocky Mountains. After planting a church (much like Redeemer) in Missoula and pastoring it for almost 15 years, we moved to Longmont in 2019, in large part to help launch Redeemer Longmont.

I serve part-time as a pastor at Redeemer while also working a full-time job, which means I spend a lot of my time thinking about what it looks like to follow Jesus in the middle of ordinary life. I’m passionate about helping people grow in their enjoyment of God through their vocations, families, and everyday rhythms. I also love creating space for people who are skeptical, curious, or unsure about Christianity to ask questions without pressure, judgment, or pretending to have everything figured out.

My wife and I have four children who have somehow always managed to be the oldest kids in every church we’ve attended! We are also rapidly approaching the empty nest phase of life—a reality I’m still not entirely prepared for.

Hobbies: skiing, grilling, watching sports, making coffee & craft cocktails, and trying to convince myself that pickleball is a legitimate athletic pursuit.

Favorite Book Series: Red Rising

Favorite Movie: The Matrix

Michael TenBarge Family

When I’m not at the church, I spend my time connecting under-resourced youth with adult mentors. Within the walls of Redeemer, I seek to embody the joy, grace, and love of Jesus to the next generation so they may experience the depth of God’s love for them.

My passion for the gospel led me to Denver Seminary, followed by a season pastoring a church here in Colorado before joining the team at Redeemer Longmont. I find immense joy in distilling rich theological truths into digestible and savory bites. I’m still learning to fully appreciate the gift of my union with Jesus. Having an identity I didn’t create—and therefore can't lose—is the most freeing gift I’ve received.

I like to think of myself as a Colorado native, though my sports teams give me away immediately. My greatest joys are my beautiful wife and our puppy, and while I’m down for most "Colorado things," sleeping outside is one I do as a sacrifice. When I’m not "roughing it," you can find me playing board games, enjoying a glass of French wine, or dreaming of gluten-full pizza. And if I had my way, I’d live on a golf course... preferably one in Hawaii.

I grew up on the east coast, spending the most time in Central Virginia. I attended James Madison University (go Dukes!) where I received a bachelor’s in geographic science. After graduating I spent over a decade working in various operations roles mainly for utilities/renewables.

While living in VA I met my amazing husband, Josiah! We moved across the country in 2021 to our new home in Longmont, Colorado. Our son Rylan joined our lives in 2025 and we are so excited for our future adventures as a family!

We started attending Redeemer Longmont not long after moving to Colorado. It’s a beautiful community and we're so grateful God led us here. When Redeemer offered me an administrative role I jumped at the opportunity! I love serving in a capacity that helps with all the daily tasks of running a church.

Interests: being a mom and homemaking, hiking, skiing, travel, photography, baking allergy friendly - that actually tastes good!

Favorite Christmas Movie: It’s a Wonderful Life

Favorite Bake: Carrot cake
